The Laifen Wave Pro is the most capable brush Laifen makes, and the aluminium alloy version is the better built of the two. It keeps the 60-degree oscillation of the original Wave and adds the two things that were missing: a pressure sensor and a wireless charging dock.

What the Wave Pro adds
Laifen's UK listing puts the Wave Pro at 26,000 to 66,000 vibrations per minute, with the same 60-degree oscillation as the original, a 70-day battery, IPX8 water resistance and a two-year warranty. It comes with two Pro brush heads and a round charging dock that charges wirelessly.

The pressure sensor is the significant addition. It monitors how hard you are pressing and reduces the motor output when you press too hard, which is the single feature T3's review of the original Wave singled out as missing.

Pros and cons
Short version, based on verified specifications and independent testing.
What works
- A pressure sensor monitors how hard you are brushing and reduces the motor output accordingly
- Laifen's UK listing quotes a battery of up to 70 days, the longest in the range
- Comes with a wireless charging dock, which the original Wave does not have
- IPX8 water resistance and a two-year warranty
What doesn’t
- Only two cleaning modes, Daily Clean and Deep Clean, against three on the original Wave
- It costs more than the original Wave for largely the same cleaning action
- The handle is noticeably heavier than the white ABS version
- Laifen's listing artwork uses comparative plaque-removal claims that we have not repeated here
Two modes instead of three
The trade-off is that the Wave Pro runs two cleaning modes, Daily Clean and Deep Clean, where the original Wave runs three. Each can be adjusted in the app, and the mode is switched by triple-pressing the handle button or through the app.

Our verdict
The Wave Pro is the brush to buy if you brush hard or your gums are sensitive, because the pressure sensor does something no amount of app adjustment can do. At the price we recorded it costs more than the original Wave, and you are mostly paying for that sensor, the longer battery and the dock.
If you would rather set the power yourself, the original Laifen Wave gives you three modes and up to twenty intensity levels for less money. If you want the Pro's features without the alloy handle, the white ABS Wave Pro is the better value of the two Pros.
